Polaroid Corporation and NCMEC joined forces in 1993 to create Project KidCare®, a national child safety and standardized photo identification program.

Since then, more than 12 million KidCare photo IDs have been distributed by Polaroid and its corporate and civic sponsors, currently at the rate of nearly two million children a year.

Polaroid has partnered with a consortium of prominent retailers to dramatically increase the capability to protect the approximately 58 million children in the United States between the ages of 1-14. These retailers include Wal-Mart Stores, The Home Depot, Eckerd Drug Stores, Honda Motor and Bloomingdale's, as well as numerous community groups and businesses nationwide. While community groups usually sponsor one or more KidCare events at individual locations, a large retailer typically sponsors KidCare events at a number of of its locations nationwide, perhaps all on one day in a particular region of the country.

Polaroid's Digital KidCare ID program is a digital version of Project KidCare. Project KidCare and Digital KidCare ID are currently limited to the United States. In the future, similar programs will be available in other countries. For more information about Polaroid's Project KidCare and Digital KidCare ID, go to www.polaroid.com/kidcare.
