Digital KidCare ID was jointly developed by Polaroid Corporation, Family Trusted Products, LLC, and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) because most parents cannot quickly and accurately provide the crucial photos and detailed information needed by law enforcement officials to begin a missing child search.

What should I know about Digital KidCare?
Digital KidCare ID is a basic precaution in advance of an emergency. The Digital KidCare ID package contains the necessary information to help authorities find a missing child. In addition, an upgrade version of the Digital KidCare ID is available for home use. The upgrade provides parents with additional tools to be even more prepared in the event of a missing child emergency. Using this upgrade software, you can record, update and save privately on your home computer and on any floppy disk all the digital photos and information which could be of use in the event a child is missing.

Retailers, community groups and businesses run Digital KidCare events at which parents (or other accompanying adults such as aunts and grandparents) may bring their child and receive the Digital KidCare ID package for free.

At a Digital KidCare ID event, each child is digitally photographed and certain basic identifying information is entered (name, age, etc.). The photographs and basic information will be placed onto a specially formatted floppy disk given to the parent at no charge. The parent is the only one to keep the photographs and information. No digital or other record will be be kept by the host or the sponsor.

The Digital KidCare ID floppy disk can be used to print or email the information on it to local authorities, friends, relatives and the NCMEC in the event of a missing child emergency.
